Biography

Lashunda Reynolds has been serving as an educator in Washington, DC, for over a decade. She has taught everything under the social studies umbrella, including but not limited to, Advanced Placement Government and Politics, Advanced Placement United States History, DC History, and Economics. She earned an MA in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Minority and Urban Education from the University of Maryland, College Park, an MAT from American University, and an BA in Social Studies Education from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She is passionate about serving students in urban communities and has focused her research efforts on the African American and Latino males that are often times marginalized due to outliers. Her studies have taken her to analyzing homogeneous environments that have underlying esteem programs. In addition to teaching, Lashunda is often times engulfed with a community service projects that have often included sweater drives, trunk drive (college materials) feeding the homeless, and mentorships. She is dedicated to being a teacher leader and has accepted many honors and fellowships such as BLISS (Building Literacy in Social Studies) and ECET2 (Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teachers). It is her hope to continue to build a legacy on what can happen when you combine effort with due diligence.
